The holiday season is upon us! Family and friends will be coming into town and you may just find yourself with a few overnight guests this season.
In preparation for these guests, here are a few helpful tips on how to create a welcoming guest space:
Some suggest staying in your guest room for an evening to anticipate the needs of your guests. Did you need an extra blanket or pillow? Is there a clock? Magazine or book? How about an extra phone charger? These simple touches will make any guest feel right at home.
Want to go the extra mile? Try pampering them with some fresh flowers. Turn down the bed and place a piece of chocolate on the pillow. Leave extra hangers in the closet and empty some drawer space. Provide a plush robe and a bottle of water on the bedside table.
And last but not least clear any clutter. I know my guest room is filled with things that need to be donated. Or gifts for upcoming special occasions. Set aside some time and plan a trip to a local charity near you. I plan to make a run to A Wider Circle and of course the DC Diaper Bank this week to drop off those donations.
A few other small touches might include a small wastebasket, a box of tissues, a jewelry tray, fresh towels, and a basket full of toiletries, such as shampoo, conditioner, a bar of soap, deodorant, toothpaste, and a toothbrush.
These simple touches will be sure to make your guest feel right at home and keep them coming back for more.
