Curb appeal is the first impression of your home. Make it great!

Spring has arrived! The weather as well as the market is heating up and potential buyers are on the prowl for new homes. A great way to lure them in is by creating eye-catching curb appeal. Curb appeal provides a potential buyer with the first impression of your home by making it stand out from the rest.

Here are some tips to improve curb appeal after the long winter months:

  • Spruce up landscaping. Rake leaves left over from Fall, pull weeds, cut the grass, re-sod bare spots, trim overgrown shrubs, plant colorful Spring flowers and add a new layer of mulch to plant beds.

  • Wash your house to remove Winter’s grime. Power-wash siding, sidewalks, fences and decks. Remove debris from gutters. Clean windows and outdoor light fixtures to make them sparkle.

  • Repair any damaged items such as windows, gutters, shingles, siding, mortar, shutters or asphalt.

  • Freshen up the paint job. Touch up areas that have faded or become worn. Add a fresh coat of paint to the front door and garage door.

  • Replace or refinish hardware. New or refinished door handles, house numbers, outdoor lighting and mail box will give the home an updated look.

  • Store away any unnecessary tools and supplies such as shovels, snow blowers and ice melt.

  • Clean and set up the Spring patio furniture and barbeque. Add bright pillows, tablecloths and an umbrella.
